Guests and Permanent Loans

Guests on the Server of Bildarchiv Foto Marburg

Foto Marburg keeps external inventories of digital material on its own server as part of the DISKUS Network network, which  functions as a collaborative documentation program for recording the inventories of museums, offices for monument conservation, image archives, libraries, archives, photograph collections and university institutes, and posts them on the internet in the Image Index for Art and Architecture.

The Database of the Austrian National Library makes the following inventory accessible:

Austrian Picture Posters 1914-1945
This database covers the historical picture posters in the Flyer, Poster and Ex-Libris Collection from the period between 1914 and 1945. It focuses on political picture posters (for example, the First World War, elections to the National Council, elections to the state parliament and the district council in Vienna), exhibition posters and product advertising.

Portions of this inventory, including 3,000 film posters from the first half of the twentieth century, were published within the scope of the DISKUS Series on CD and are now also available in the Image Index of Art and Architecture (as of August 2006).

Austrian Posters from 1989 (without illustrations)
The Austrian National Library must by law be provided with specimen copies of all publications printed in Austria – thus also all posters printed in Austria. These posters can be found in a database consisting exclusively of text without images beginning with the year 1989. The more than 10,000 posters found here primarily document election advertising at the federal, state and municipal levels, as well as cultural events (museums, exhibitions, galleries, etc.) (as of August 2006).

Permanent Loans

A large number of photographs stored in the image archive have come to it as permanent loans from lenders such as offices for monument conservation, universities and private persons. The inventory of loans is tended and treated at Bildarchiv Foto Marburg in accordance with the best methods of documentary conservation and scholarship.
